The Sweetest Thing Happend To Me!
Ik had een rotdag een paar dagen terug en de volgende morgen toen ik de brievenbus leeghaalde zag ik een kleine bubbeltjesenveloppe, wat raar was want ik verwachtte niks. (Niet iets wat in een kleine bubbeltjesenveloppe past tenminste. lol)
Toen ik hem openscheurde zag ik een nagellak en een heel lief briefje. Een van mijn online nagellakvriendinnen had me een nagellak gestuurd om me op te vrolijken en een hart onder de riem te steken!
Heel erg bedankt IceRozie, ik vind het echt heel erg lief van je! <3

Ik ben tot nu toe niet heel erg onder de indruk van de formule van Zoya maar lichte kleuren zijn vaak sowieso wat lastiger en 'kalkig' om op te brengen dus ik wacht nog even met mijn oordeel tot ik er meer geprobeerd heb.

I'm not reallt impressed with Zoya's formula so far but lighter colours are often a bit tricky and chalky to apply so I'll hold out on my verdict until I have tried more.

Comparison: OPI Smitten With Mittens vs China Glaze Ruby Pumps

Bij deze de vergelijking die ik beloofd had! Het weer is niet geweldig om foto's te maken maar dat moet dan maar. Sorry alvast voor de slechte clean-up. Ik moest snel werken om die enkele zonnestraaltjes op te vangen die er vandaag geweest zijn. Klik op de foto's voor een grotere versie.

Here is the comparison I promised! The weather isn't great for taking pictures but it will have to do. Sorry about the bad clean-up job. I had to work fast to take advantage of the few rays of sunshine we had today. Please click the pics for a larger version.
Eerst de SWM verwijderen van twee vingers. Tip: neem een stukje vilt dat ongeveer even groot is als je nagel, maak die nat met aceton, leg het op de nagel en wikkel er zilverfolie omheen. De zilverfolie zorgt dat de aceton niet verdampt waardoor het zijn werk beter kan doen. Na een minuutje veeg je in een beweging al die lastige glitters eraf!
English: First I removed SWM on two fingers. Tip: take a piece of felt about the size of your nail, soak it with acetone, put it on the nail and wrap with foil. The foil prevents evaporation of the aceton so it can do its job a lot better. After a minute the glitter glides off in one easy swipe!
Op naar de vergelijking! Beide zijn drie laagjes met dezelfde basecoat en twee laagjes topcoat voor een glad oppervlak.
English: On to the comparison! Both are three layers over the same basecoat and two coats of topcoat to make it smooth.
SWM is duidelijk donkerder dan RP en bovendien is RP een jelly en SWM niet. De glitter is daardoor opvallender dan in SWM. Bij RP lijkt het of er kleine sterretjes in de nagellak verstopt zitten die af en toe oplichten. Dat is wat RP zo uniek en briljant maakt! Als je een feestje hebt en een opvallende lak wilt dragen dan is RP absoluut de lak die je moet kiezen. Een echte show stopper!
De glitter in SWM is wat subtieler en warmer van kleur. De gouden glitter is op de nagel niet zichtbaar maar geeft wel een prachtige warme gloed. Als ik moet kiezen is SWM mijn favoriet maar ik ben erg blij dat ik ze beide heb!
Wat me opviel bij het verwijderen van beide lakken is dat de basisglitter in beide verschillend is. SWM heeft niet alleen gouden glitters maar ook de rode glitters bleken na wat aceton goudkleurig te zijn. RP heeft alleen rode glitter die als basis zilverkleurig is. Ik vraag me af of dat verantwoordelijk is voor de warme en koele tinten van beide lakken.
English: SWM is obviously darker and besides that RP is a jelly and SWM is not. The glitter in RP shows better because of that. It's like there are tiny stars embedded in there and they flash little rays of light every now and then. That is what makes RP so unique and brilliant! If you have a party and you need something noticeable RP should be your first choice. A real show stopper!
The glitter in SWM is a bit more subtle and warmer. The golden glitter isn't noticeable on the nail but it does give a warm glow. If I had to choose I would go with SWM but I'm glad I own both!
I noticed during removal that the baseglitter in both polishes is different. SWM doesn't only have gold glitter but after a swipe of aceton I noticed the red glitter has a gold base too. RP only has red glitter but this glitter has a silver base. I wonder if this is what gives them both warm and cool glow.

Conslusie: Het zijn geen dupes. Ben je een verzamelaar of een echte rood liefhebber dan heb je beide nodig! Zoek je gewoon een mooie rode glitterlak voor de kerst dan zou ik je beslissing af laten hangen van je huidtint en je persoonlijke voorkeur.
English: Conclusion: They are not dupes. If you are a collector or a real red lover you need both! If you are just looking for a nice red glitter polish for Christmas I would choose one depending on your skin tone and personal preference.

Nothing Like A Glittery Red To Brighten Up Your Day.
Het is de laatste dagen erg somber weer dus ik had iets nodig om me op te vrolijken. Wat werkt er dan beter dan een rode glitterlak? Ik ben gelijk helemaal in de kerststemming!

Dit is OPI Smitten With Mittens uit de Winter 2009 Holiday Wishes Collection. Ik heb drie laagjes gelakt met een basecoat en topcoat. Ondanks het gebrek aan goed licht om foto's te maken klopt de kleur toch aardig. Het is een warme medium rood met rode en gouden microglitter.
Op de nagel zie je de gouden glitter, in tegenstelling tot in het flesje, niet echt maar de lak heeft daardoor wel een warmer uiterlijk dan bijvoorbeeld China Glaze Ruby Pumps heeft.
English: This is OPI Smitten With Mittens from the Winter 2009 Holiday Wishes Collection. I used three coats with a base and topcoat. Despite the lack of proper lighting the pic is pretty colour accurate. It's a warm, medium red with red and gold microglitter.
The gold glitter that is very visible in the bottle doesn't really show on the nail but it does give it a warmer look that China Glaze Ruby Pumps doesn't have.

Mega Nails
Hello Dear Nail-Art Lovers!

But today i ll spoil you with really cool looking black, white and gold manicure.
I love how this one turned out, it was inspired by some picture i found, probably posted by one of my readers. I really liked the concept, but i had to adapt it for my tiny nails.

I Love Orly!
Ik heb pas mijn eerste Orly nagellakken gekregen en ik ben verliefd!
De prijs, de grotere flesjes, de rubberen dop, de kwaliteit, alles is top. Hoewel Orly nog vrij veel 'saaie' zachtroze en (half-) doorzichtige nagellakken maakt hebben ze een paar erg goede kleuren in de collectie. Vooral in de laatste collecties zitten een aantal unieke en prachtige kleuren.
Dit is twee laagjes Orly Cashmere Cardigan uit de Orly Prepster Collectie met Poshe topcoat en daar overheen Konad met China Glaze Millenium en plate M65 en nog een laagje Poshe.
Orly Cashmere Cardigan is een mooie licht-blauwe/lavendel of 'periwinkle'. De lak is erg dekkend en gepigmenteerd. Een laagje was eigenlijk al genoeg maar ik heb twee laagjes gedaan om het af te maken.
China Glaze Millenium werkt net als de rest van de Khromes Collection geweldig voor Konad. De afwerking is strakker en de kleur meer zilver dan de Konad Special Polish Silver. Het is bijna alsof het spiegelt.

Ik heb lang getwijfeld of ik een blog wilde beginnen omdat er natuurlijk veel tijd in gaat zitten maar ik vind het erg jammer dat er eigenlijk geen Nederlandse nagelblogs zijn en er is maar een manier om daar verandering in te brengen: zelf gaan bloggen!
Ik ben dus Kirsten. Ik ben 29 en ik houd van nagellak en nailart.
Ik ben van plan om zowel in het Nederlands als Engels te gaan bloggen om een groter publiek aan te spreken. Ik zal niet alle nieuwe collecties showen, er zijn al genoeg blogs die daarvoor een geweldige bron zijn en mijn portemonnee heeft een bodem. ;)
Ik ga proberen om een goede mix te vinden tussen zowel de betere merken als goedkope drogisterijlakjes zodat er voor iedereen iets tussen zit.

I'm planning to blog both in English and in Dutch so my blog will be more inviting to a larger public. I won't be showing all the new collections, there are a lot of blogs out there that are a great resource for that and my funds are limited. ;)
I will try to find a good balance between the better brands and quality polish and cheaper drugstore brands so there will be something for everyone here.

Ik ben van plan om zowel in het Nederlands als Engels te gaan bloggen om een groter publiek aan te spreken. Ik zal niet alle nieuwe collecties showen, er zijn al genoeg blogs die daarvoor een geweldige bron zijn en mijn portemonnee heeft een bodem. ;)
Ik ga proberen om een goede mix te vinden tussen zowel de betere merken als goedkope drogisterijlakjes zodat er voor iedereen iets tussen zit.

Stone Marble
Ya-hoo! I am super happy with this manicure - in fact i love it!!! I think i am finally catch in up on the water marble technique. The trick is that you need to marble polishes in the water really randomly, and even if it looks like a mess, it will be more detailed on the nails . At first i was trying to make some patterns like they show in videos and it nether worked.
Another important thing is that even if polish does not look opaque in the water, it will still work just fine on teh nails polished witht eh base color.
I finish this manicure with ,matte top coat, to make it look like stone, and i love this mani!!!!
I feel much more confident aout water marbles now, and i play with it more.
