Valentines inspired nails

I guess after some shopping today, i got inspired to make some valentines related nails.
I am so sorry my nails are so short now, where is not really much i can do with it right now, but i hope, you, my friends will be patient enough until it grow back long

Psssst-Your Zipper's Undone!

Day 96

For today's nails I wanted to make it look like the black polish (or red) was unzipping to bare skin. I did the red zippered nail as a tribute to the late, great MJ.

I used Urban Outfitters Matte Nude 3 as a base, with OPI for Sephora What's a Tire Jack? Matte for the black, and China Glaze Salsa for the red, and China Glaze Millennium for the zipper. Topped off the black and red with Seche Vite top coat to give it a patent leather look, but left the nude color matte, like skin. :-)

Zip it...zip it good.

A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING

I May Or May Not Know The Man Behind These Hands...

Dussss hier is mijn absoluut anonieme mannelijke handmodel die jullie BB Couture Impact Driver laat zien! Dit is twee laagjes met op de ringvinger Nubar V for Men en op de pink China Glaze Matte Magic. De andere vingers zijn zonder topcoat.

English: Soooo here is my totally anonymous manly hand model showing you BB Couture Impact Driver! This is two coats with Nubar V for Men on the ringfinger and China Glaze Matte Magic on the pinky. The other fingers are without topcoat.

Zijn pinkie is een beetje verlegen.

English: His pinky is a bit shy.

With flash.

English: I don't know... I think this colour might work on some men but it's weird seeing it on my ehm... anonymous hand model. He said he didn't really care for the colour and he didn't think shimmer was very manly.

English: Notice the purple and black shimmer in the bottle? They don't really show up on the nails unfortunately.

English: And here is what it looks like on my nails with topcoat.

English: Despite the fact that the brush is a normal round brush I thought it worked really well. Coverage is also very good! I think with short nails and careful application you could get away with one coat.

English: I didn't really like that it got a bit of a grainy texture while polishing. It's not bubbles and I wouldn't call it lumps but it's not perfectly smooth either. You can see this on the first pic with my male model. On him it didn't bother me because it does add a bit of roughness but on me I wasn't crazy about it. Fortunately Nubar Diamont is self-levelling so it's not noticeable after a coat of topcoat. I don't know if this is something all BB Couture polishes have or just the Men's Collection or even just this polish but I guess we'll find out later this week.

English: So, that's it! Please be kind to him, he was quite nervous about his first performance on my blog. ;)

Koh - Glamourous Purple

Koh Glamourous Purple

Hey guys! Hope everyone's doing well.. Today I wanted to show you a lovely nail polish by Koh and I also wanted to tell you how I paint my nails, because I've been getting a lot of questions about that :-).

You're looking at Glamourous Purple, a lovely duochrome. This is 2 coats over 1 coat Smokey Violet (also by Koh). The formula of these polishes weren't too great, but the colors are really nice. I think this mani kinda looks like a less saturated version of Nubar's Purple Beach!

Second, how do I apply my nail polish? Well, it's nothing special really. I do have several ground rules:

  • good lighting
  • hands resting on the desk
  • enough polish on the brush to cover the whole nail at once
  • start in the center a little bit above the cuticle push it towards the cuticle and then straight up - then the same for the sides, starting from the middle.
  • jagged line around the cuticle? Please read Megan Chair's amazing tutorial on how to clean up!

I'm not saying this is the way it should be done, but it works really well for me :-). Hope you found this useful. Take care and till next time!

I've Got a lot of Time on My Hands...

Day 95

:-P literally!! :-P I totally love the red digital one, its my favorite. :-D

I used American Apparel Cotton as a base for the white nails, and OPI for Sephora What's a Tire Jack? Matte as a base for the black nail. I also used OPI for Sephora What's a Tire Jack? Matte for all the black numbers, clock hands. China Glaze 2030 from Khrome Collection for the gold hands, and Zoya Dakota for the digital numbers.

Tick-tock!

A Small Delay and Two Giveaways!

English: Sorry guys, I'm still sick and the smell of polish is making me nauseous so I didn't get to the BB Couture reviews yet. I did however persuade the boyfriend to model the two polishes from the men's collection under the strict conditions that he gets to model with tough guy stuff like actual wire cutters as props and that he gets to guard the bottle of nail polish remover while I paint his nails so he will be 100% sure the stuff will come off right away when we are done. lol
So stay tuned for that!

I also wanted to share these two giveaways with you:

OPI - Black Cherry Chutney - Vampilicious Pt. II

OPI Black Cherry Chutney

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone is doing well. Today I'm wearing OPI's Black Cherry Chutney, a classic vampy color which belongs to the India Collection from 2008. When I posted OPI's Midnight in Moscow last week, I mentioned that I thought this polish is pretty similar. Well, they are, but they do have different undertones: MiM is leaning towards brown where BCC is leaning towards a deep cherry color. I love them both!

Some people say vampy colors are only meant for really short nails, but I think they look good on several lengths, what do you think?

Gel nails - Little gremlins and pink

For those who follow my twitter, you would already have seen the little gremlins I posted on twitter. Well, this is the reason why I have to pre make the little devils.

Yes, she requested for the gremlins cos she saw them in Nail Max. A pinky glitter base and some dark pink disco ball flakes makes it more interesting.

Did them from scratch using acrylic powder. The face, nose, eyes, ears, tail.. then painted them.. :D Cute or not!!! They look very naughty! hahahahhaa. In the process of making these rascals, my mum came into the room and asked what I was doing. I told her, "making monsters".

!!!! Love it to the max! The ears, tail, eyes...

Then this is her mum's set of nails. Similar to hers, but tiny silver flakes instead of the pink ones.

I'm not exactly a pink person, but I love creating pink nails. They look so demure and sweet lah!

Both sets are gel extension.
