SWEET VALENTINE HEART

Electric Leopard

Day 101

So for today, since it's still doom & gloom here in Las Vegas (we've gotten more rain -1.69" this week than we did ALL LAST YEAR!!!!), I wanted to do something über-bright and fun, so I dug out a design I did before I started the blog- apparently August 7th.. :-P August 7th. I like this design, and the brightness of the hot pink doesn't even begin to show in the photo, it's positively retina-searing. (which, in my book, is a good thing)

I used Sally Girl Way Cool as a base, with China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise and China Glaze Liquid Leather for the spots and tips. :-P Topped it all off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat. :-)

Bonus picture:

Snow-capped mountains, not really what you think of when you think of the Las Vegas Strip, eh?

OPI - Yoga-ta Get this Blue!

OPI Yoga-ta Get this Blue!

Hi everyone! Today I've got something blue for you. I'm really into blues lately, I just think it's such a fun color to wear :-). This one is called Yoga-ta Get This Blue and it's by OPI. As you probably already can tell, I'm a big OPI fan. This one belongs to the 2008 India Collection.

I think it's a lovely rich color, not too light and not almost black like a lot of dark-blues out there. The almost turquoise shimmer is really visible, which makes it really fun to look at. I must admit that there are many blues like this one, so for me it's not that special, just very likeable :-). Unfortunately it took 3 coats for it to be opaque, but other than that, the formula was fine.

I know there a lot of blues out there right now, what's your favorite?

BB Couture Green Goblin And Some Comparisons

English: A gorgeous mossy forest green creme. There is not much to say about it. She's just awesome!

English: Application was a bit more troublesome than with the other two. The first coat was pretty thin and streaky but the second coat evened that out and after the third coat it looks great. Not that three coats is bad by any means because I do very thin coats so I usually need three. The brush is the same as Ravager, good, but I prefer them shorter and wider.

English: I know some of you have been lemming this one bad so here are some comparison pics to either kill or enforce the lemming.

Aquarium Nails Again!

Hello my sweet dear readers and Nail-Art Lovers.
For a long time i was wondered about aquarium nails - is it for real? Can you really have it on your hands? How those are done?
(By the way if you still wonder what aquarium nails are, please read this post, that i had long long time ago POST )
So today i want to share with you 2 videos that i found on youtube recently. OMG! If i will ever get acrylics, i want it to be like this! I know a lot of people dont really love it very much and think that aquarium nails looks weird, but i probably have a weird nail taste, i think those nails are just amazing. I will definitely go for those, if ever find a local technician who could do those.
So here is the video od the aquarium nails on the actual hand, do you like it? The only thing i woudl change, is that i would not make a bottom transparent.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnJ8Fi1cTjo

and here is the video that explains how to make those nails, really worth watching, because it does revel the history, and i am so thankful to the author.

ANNIVERSARY!

I can't believe that it has been 1 year since I started nail school. It has been quite an amazing year and I couldn't have done it without my amazing clients. Thanks for putting up with me and allowing me to experiment with all of my crazy nail art ideas on you. Here is to another year of learning as much as I can about nails and everything that goes with them so that I can keep getting better.
On these nails I mixed every kind of pink glitter pieces that I own and added red hearts. To finish I painted white dots and xoxo.

FINALLY! I finally got the 6 new opi gel polish colors that I have been waiting for since September! This color is "opi ink". I have 26 opi gel polish colors now. Gel polish lasts for 2-3 weeks with no chipping! FABULOUS DARLING!

These have fimo clay roses in them that I found at etsy.com.

These nails have fimo clay conversation hearts that I purchased from kennickkreations.com. They say "babe" and "honey".

This is silver acrylic with blue mylar and black polish stripes.

This is a glitter from sparklesnailproducts.com I added some of my own crazy personality in there like always. This is one of those pictures that you really need to click directly on it to get the best view.

Happy Valentines!

Brace Yourself!

Day 100

Ok, so I got this comment on my personal Facebook page from a friend in my hometown in Michigan. It was from, Julie, the woman who used to cut my hair when I was still living at home, and gave me some of the most super awesome prom do's that NO ONE else had... She commented on a post of mine with some fabulous nail ideas, and one of them was one I just couldn't resist- teeth with braces!!! I'd been toying around with the idea of teeth for a while, but couldn't really think of what would make them 'pop', so to speak, so her comment about the braces hit the nail on the head. Even better, the show Ugly Betty, which I love, airs on Wednesday nights, so I thought it was the perfect design to do for today!! ( I even painted them WHILE watching Ugly Betty!! :-P) Not gonna lie, I love them, even though they creep me out a bit. It makes me kinda laugh because my nail shape really looks like a tooth shape. *shudder* :-P

Man, that one tooth is way out of line... perhaps thats why braces were needed. ;)

Just the 'incisors'

I used American Apparel Cotton as a base, and couldn't have ever come up with a more perfect tooth color, even though this particular American Apparel polish takes 4 coats to be opaque, I happen to love it, and it's become my go-to white/off-white. For the gums, I used a mix of American Apparel Palm Springs and China Glaze Salsa to get the 'gummy' color. For the braces, I used China Glaze Millennium, and mixed it with China Glaze Liquid Leather to shade. Topped everything off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat, because every smile should shine!! :-P

Dentists/Dental Hygienists, are my 'gums' healthy, or should I floss more? ;)

Thanks, Julie!!!! :)

BB Couture Ravager

English: The Dutch term for mauve is best translated as 'old' pink. A somewhat dusty, muted and faded pink. If that is the description for mauve then this is an 'old' purple. She has a somewhat antique feel to it which makes her absolutely unique in my collection.

English: Ravager is a glassflecked polish which means that the shimmer isn't shimmer or glitter but consists of almost clear, glass-like particles. For more info on polish finishes check this amazingly helpful post by The Edge Of Sanity. Unfortunately with this polish this is again more apparent in the bottle than on the nail. I think I would like her even better is she was a bit more jelly so the glass flecks would show themselves better!

Applicatie was wederom erg goed!

English: Application was again very good! Ravager is also almost opaque in one coat and you'd have to remember that I do very thin coats. I didn't like the brush as much this time. The brush itself is the same but the stem is just a tiny bit longer which gave me a little bit more trouble. It's not bad by any means but I just prefer shorter stems and wider brushes. I think that is also my biggest problem with the China Glaze brushes.

Dat was het weer voor vandaag. Bedankt voor het kijken!

English: That's it for today. Thanks for looking!

Day 99

or Orange, or Yellow, Green, Turquoise.... you get the idea.

:-P As some of you readers know, the west coast is getting blasted with some rain, storms, even tornadoes!!! (I feel like I'm in Michigan again!!) Here in Las Vegas, it's been doom and gloom for a few days now, and is showing no signs of letting up. One of the main roads on my way home last night was even flooded. Also, unlike the midwest, north, northeast, east, or south (virtually everywhere but here), drivers here don't experience rain often, and therefore, have NO IDEA HOW TO DRIVE IN IT. (most don't have any idea how to drive when it's dry either though, so it's a moot point, tbh.) Anyway...since it's been gloomy lately, I wanted to show the gloom, but show the bright side poking out, so I did matte black nails with super bright tips.

I used OPI for Sephora What's a Tire Jack? Matte as a base, with OPI La-Pazitively Hot Matte for the thumb, Pumped-Up Pumpkin for the index finger, even though it totally looks red, Zoya Pippa for the middle finger, OPI Gargantuan Green Grape Matte with OPI Green-wich Village over top of it for the ring finger, and Zoya Yummy for the pinky. Topped all TIPS off with a coat of Seche Vite top coat, but left the main portion of the nail matte.

These nails remind me of something, and I can't seem to put my finger (no pun intended) on it.

Help!! Do they remind you of anything? It's seriously bugging me. lol
