Go pastel this summer!

Pastel colors!! Super love!

Baby pink and purple! I know it looks blue... but it's actually pastel purple.

Round tips. Pastel shades. Sweet. I'm convincing more and more customers of mine to try round nails. I love them! Hehe.

Pastel yellow with gold stars. Design extracted from Nail Max. This is something I would wear. What about you? ;)

Nox Twilight Beauty - Crush

Nox Twilight Beauty Crush

Crush

Maybe you remember my post on Disco Darling by Nox Twilight Beauty? Today I'm showing you Crush. Crush is a perfect pink neon, kapoww!
Until recently neons didn't do much for me, but I'm really starting to digg them. They're fun, create an instant tan, and they sure attract a lot of conversation.

Application

Like a lot neons this one dries semi matte, so in order for you to get that high gloss I'd recommend using top coat. I'm really impressed by the quality of the polishes within this line, they're really easy to handle and the colors are quite cool! Crush needed 3 coats for complete opacity, not bad at all, after all, it is a neon!
Of course I still think the names could've been more Twilight-y, but I won't get into that every time.

You can order these at www.twilightbeauty.com for $6.99 each (for 17ml/0.58oz woohoo!) or the entire collection for $65 (12 shades!). If you don't live in The States you can check their UK distributor www.simplebeauty.co.uk to see if they ship to your country!

Double Crossed

I was going through the apps on my iPhone earlier today looking for games to play to burn a few minutes of my day, and I stumbled upon a crossword app, and thought it might make a fun nail design. Mind you, I'm positively wretched at crossword puzzles. Give me Sudoku, Cryptograms, etc any day of the week, but crosswords? Never. I tried to incorporate some of my favorite brands of nail polish into the puzzle, but could only fit parts of some (I'm lookin' at you China Glaze).

I used Essie Bone Chilling White as a base, with American Apparel Hassid for the lines and filled in squares, and CND Anchor Blue for the pen/writing. Topped it all off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat.

Now who knows how to fix sewing machines??!!?

Don't toss it, thin it!

P2 Nail polish thinner

Just a quick little tip

Hi everyone! I'm pretty sure a lot of people already do this, but every now and then I read about how people throw away their polish because it's gone bad, thick, goopy, solid, stringy, you name it! Please don't, ever, throw out your nail polish. Well, except when it's ugly as can be of course.

Nail polish actually thickens up on you because certain ingredients evaporate. Some people add nail polish remover or even acetone to thin their polish, but that's a no go. If you're adding acetone you're actually breaking down your polish instead of thinning it, and we don't want that or do we?
Adding thinner actually restores the previously existing and now missing element in your polish, making it a whole again. How spiritual does that sound! - Please forgive me for my corniness.

Different brands

I'm not sure if it really matters what brand thinner you use, I've tried several and liked them all. The brands I used are OPI, Mavala and as pictured: P2. I really like the P2 thinner because it's highly concentrated and really cheap. It does suck you have to travel all the way to Germany to get your hands on it though. If you're ever buying or ordering nail polish at a (r)etailer, have a look around, because a lot of stores do sell thinner!

I hope this was helpful!
With love, Michèle

The Suite Life

No, no, no, not that Disney Channel show... I'm talking about the AWESOME suite... Adobe Creative Suite! :) Being a graphic designer by trade, the icons are something I'm fairly familiar with, and I thought they'd be a fun manicure! :-D From thumb to pinky are Dreamweaver, InDesign, Photoshop, Flash, and Illustrator. I think with all this free advertising, Adobe should give me CS5. lol *JUST KIDDING* <---(unless you work at Adobe and really want to send it to me, :-P)

I used L.A. Girl Army Green as a base for the thumb, then mixed with Essie Mink Muffs and Nubar Forest for the gradient. For the index finger, I used Essie Foot Loose as a base, with Color Club Ms. Socialite for the gradient. On the middle finger, I used Orly Snowcone as a base, then mixed with Orly Cosmic FX Lunar Eclipse for the gradient. The base on the ring finger is Eyeko Saucy Polish for Naughty Nails, with A Beautiful Life Poison for the gradient. Lastly, the pinky was Zoya Jancyn as a base, with CND Electric Orange for the gradient. For all the letters, I used Sally Hansen Professional Lavender Cloud, then topped it all off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat.

Do you live the Suite life?

Color Club - Revvvolution

Color Club Revolution

My Private Chainmail Revvvolution

Bon Giorno! Hope everyone is doing well! Just like the last holo I posted, this one was bought to fill a void left by some other tauntingly HTF polish. Yep, you've guessed that right! OPI My Private Jet original. I own two different kinds of My Private Jet, but neither of them come even close to the real thing: the hottest black holo evar!? There are some alternatives out there: Diamond Cosmetics' Chainmail Charm and another one you see here: Color Club's Revvvolution.

Color Club Revolution

High hopes

Ok. I'll say it. I actually was a bit disappointed when I wore this for the first time. I don't know, the holographic effect was less pronounced then I had expected. It is pretty gorgeous nonetheless. So if you're not expecting MPJ, it would definitely work!

Application

The more Color Club polishes I try, the more I'm stunned by their application. Everything just goes on so easy, a delight to work with. Revvvolution is pretty opaque, so I only needed 2 layers. And did you know it does a pretty good job at stamping as well?

Color Club Revolution

Thanks for stopping by and see you soon!

Da Da Da Da *SNAP* *SNAP*

They're creepy and they're kooky, mysterious and spooky, they're all together ooky,
The Addams Family!

Today's nails are special, some of the colors that I used to create them were created by Bebe Neuwirth with Essie polish company for charity! They're part of a limited edition set called 'Morticia's Nails'. The set contains 3 polishes, Blood Curdling Red (dark red), Bone Chilling White (white), and Midnight Tango (deep metallic navy). The cool part is that 100% of the sale goes to charity... The Actor's Fund to be exact. The Actor's Fund is an organization that provides health and social services to any and all people in the entertainment industry (actors, screenwriters, stagehands, makeup artists, etc.) that are in need. This is a cool polish set with a good cause, and a must for Addams Family fans!!

Today's nails were based off of the art on the theatre program for The Addams Family musical, which stars Bebe Neuwirth as Morticia! :) I did Uncle Fester on the thumb, Morticia on the index, Pugsley on the middle finger, Gomez on the ring, and Wednesday on the pinky. I plan to review these polishes on the Daily Nail: Reviews site in the next couple of days.

The inspiration:

The nails:

I used Essie Bone Chilling White as a base for all nails except Pugsley, which I used Orly Mirror, Mirror. For the dark blackish color, I used a mix of Essie Midnight Tango, American Apparel Hassid, and American Apparel Factory Grey. Shaded the white with that mixture mixed with some Essie Bone Chilling White. Topped everything off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat.

Disclosure: Morticia's Nails was sent to me for consideration by the charity.

Review: Entity Cuticle Oil

Entity Cuticle Oil

Cuticle oil

Even though I'm happily married to Mister L. Flutter, I like to try out other products as well. NailXL was extremely kind to offer me this cuticle oil by Entity, so I went ahead and tested it for a couple of weeks, all on its own.

For me, one of the biggest disadvantages of using cuticle oils, is the mess they can create. Since this oil comes with a pipette, it's real easy to use! The oil also absorbs fairly quick, another major plus. The scent is quite pleasant, even though I think it smells like a mixture of acrylic powder, avocado and apricots. I think it reminds me a little bit of beauty parlors, which is a good thing!

Unlike the last cuticle oil I tried, this one isn't filled with crappy, cheap, mineral oil. The ingredients are actually pretty decent, score!

Ingredients

Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Fragrance (Parfum), Linalool, Citral, Citronellol, Limonene, Violet 2 (CI 60725), Red 17 (CI 26100), Green 6 (CI 61565). Miscellaneous: T ocopherol, Propylparaben

Oil or balms

I've used this everyday and maybe it's just me, but I think oils just aren't right for my hands. It wasn't bad at all, but creams and balms seem to moisturize my cuticles better. Somehow, my cuticles always end up a bit dryer than I'd like after using cuticle oil for a while.
But, if you're someone that prefers oils over anything, I'd totally recommend snatching this one up, because it was one of the better cuticle oils I've tried so far!

You can order Entity Cuticle oil for 8.50 EUR (15ml) at NailXL. NailXL also carries an impressive range of Nfu Oh, CND, Konad and other products, so make sure to take a peek!

Let Me Have a Crack-le at it

I remember when I was just a youngin' (think 12,13,14?) and I was just starting to get excited about nail stuff, and Cover Girl had a product out called 'Crackle' which, when applied over another polish (they say it has to be their own, but it doesn't) created a crackled paint effect. Back then, the one I had was a royal blue color if I remember correctly. A while back, I managed to find and snag one from an awesome swapper on Makeup Alley, and today I decided to use it!! The crackle polish I have is an orangey yellow color, and I tried it over turquoise, which in my mind was amazing, but the crackle is super sheer and streaky, sooooo it didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, but I still think it's rad. :-P It was SUPER hard to clean the cuticle edges up though- that Crackle doesn't even dissolve in acetone!!

I used China Glaze Flyin' High as a base, with Cover Girl Crackle Jack-O-Lantern over top. For the red line, I used Eyeko Coral Polish for Resort Nails, then I used American Apparel Manila for the dots. Topped everything off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat.
