Stamping over marbeling

Hello dear readers. I spent wonderful Thursday walking in the city of Denver with friends, we did some mild shopping, just walked arrounf and ate in teh surprisingly delicious indian restaurant.
By the end of the day i was super tired but also inspired to make something special on my nails.
I started with making some water marbles. In this manicure the base is silver textured polish by Zoya, And for the marbling i used light violet and dark purple .I really like the effect of the light transparent violet layer over the silver - turned out wonderful new shade.
I finished this manicure with some partial stamps and Jewels. I think this mani look kind of different - and OMG! I cant believe i finally figured water marbles.
P.S. Just a friendly reminder - if you struggle with water marbling too - the useful tip from me is to use worm water, rather when cold one.

This is my right hand
This is full right hand too

OPI - Dating A Royal - Jelly goodness!

OPI Dating a Royal

This is today's mani, a blue jelly. Dating a Royal was so easy to apply, I was stunned. It did take 3 coats for maximum coverage though, but like I said, it went on like a charm!

I actually bought this one over 6 months ago and never used it, so since I'm going through my untrieds, I figured it was time for this little darling. And I don't know why it took me so long, because I absolutely adore this color!

Hope This Makes the Grad-ient

Day 87

Hey everyone! Day 6 of the plague- feeling marginally better, thanks to handfuls of Tylenol Sinus Severe Congestion pills. I'd estimate my head's weight at approximately 39 lb. now!! (Which goes to help out my New Year's resolution #1- lose a few lb.!! WOOOO!)

Anyway, so I fell asleep on the couch at like 8:30 last night, without eating dinner even, and woke up this morning at 7:00, and was shaking so bad I couldn't hand paint anything, so I decided to sponge a gradient, and do some Konading. :-P YAY FOR KONAD!!! I also got to use the American Apparel polishes I bought the other day, and they're great. Really great. Honestly? I'm a tad surprised at how much I like them, and at $6, or since I bought 6 of them, 3 for $15, you can't really beat em.

I used American Apparel Mouse as a base, with American Apparel Mount Royal sponged on top of it, and then China Glaze Millennium applied with Konad Disc C05 from the Coraline I Kit. Topped it off with Seche Vite top coat. :-)

Happy Friday!!

OPI - Reflecting Pool / First Post

Welcome to my blog! First, let me give you a short little intro on who I am:
I'm Michele, a 25yr old Dutch girl, who, well you probably already guessed, happens to like nail polish, a LOT.
I've already posted quite a bit on a Dutch messageboard (www.fok.nl), but I figured a blog would be nice as well :-D. When I'm not busy painting my nails, I'm mostly at work, being a front end web developer, or working on my thesis.

Second: This blog wouldn't be a nail blog without pictures of pretty nail polish! The picture on the left shows OPI's Reflecting Pool. It's a medium blue with gold polish. It kinda has a foil finish!
And since I live in Europe, it was very easy for me to get my little hands on this pretty one.

Thanks for reading and I hope you'll enjoy my blog!

Holo Konad!

Nfu Oh,Blue,Holo,Konad,M45

Ik kon het niet laten om er wat konad aan toe te voegen. Volgens mij heb ik iets soortgelijks al eens op The Nailphile gezien maar het zou ook een andere blog kunnen zijn.

English: I couldn't help myself, I had to add konad. I think I saw something similar on The Nailphile but it could have been another blog.

Holo Awesomeness!

Nfu Oh,Holo,Blue

Wat is Nfu Oh toch góed met holo's!

English: Isn't Nfu Oh great with holos?

Nfu Oh,Holo,Blue

Ik weet niks te zeggen. Het is te geweldig!

English: I don't know what to say. It's amazing!

Nfu Oh,Holo,Blue

English: Sorry about the pre-clean-up pics. I just had to share this right away!
This is Nfu Oh #65, A light blue holo.

What makes these so amazing is not only the insane rainbow effect but also the very short drying time, and that you can patch up bald spots without having to paint an entire coat of polish.
It's better not to use a topcoat with these holos because the holo-effect will diminish.

MY OWN NAILS

These are actually my own nails! I do not do my own nails because it is so nice to have someone else do them for you. I did however paint the stripes on myself. What can I say I just started playing around with my striping brush and this is what happened.

On these nails I used nebula acrylic and fushion fire sparkles. I added polish stripes to add even more fun. You really have to click directly on this picture to get the full effect of how cute these sparkles really are.

TRIPLE WORD SCORE!!

Day 86

Hey all, day 5 of the stupid plague, pretty sure it's the worst day yet, and that my head weighs about 45 lb., still I plugged away on my blog and painted my damn nails. lol :-P Today's nails are inspired by the board game we all know and love...SCRABBLE!! Fun fact: The highest score ever achieved in one turn at Scrabble was achieved by Michael Cresta, in 2006, with the word QUIXOTRY, scoring him a whopping 365 points! Another fun fact, Jason Mraz, geeky crooner extraordinaire, whom I adore, is a Scrabble lover! :)

Anyway, on to the nails, (sorry the pinky got dented- I guess they weren't totally dry when I went to bed, whoops)...

I used Urban Outfitters Matte Nude 3 as a base, Zoya Dea to paint wood grain, topped off with some Zoya Charlize to soften the grain a bit, and then Zoya Raven to paint the letters and numbers. I wasn't terribly in love with the way the woodgrain turned out, but there's always next time...wait... umm...I guess maybe in 279 days? ;)

What's your best scrabble score?

Berry Pink?

Catrice,Pink,Berry,Creme

Dit is Catrice Vibrant Violet. Twee laagjes zonder topcoat. Oh wat houd ik van Catrice! Hoe kan een 2 euro nagellak zo'n goede kwaliteit hebben? Geweldig gepigmenteerd, goed kwastje, het enige nadeel is het beperkte assortiment kleuren.

English: This is Catrice Vibrant Violet. Two coats without topcoat. Oh how I love Catrice! How is it possible that a 2 euro polish is such a good quality? Incredibly pigmented, good brush, the only downside is the limited assortment of colours.

Het was heel moeilijk deze op de foto te krijgen. Zo'n lastige kleur! Op geen van de foto's wordt de juiste kleur weergegeven. In het echt is ze veel mooier maar jullie zullen het hiermee moeten doen.

English: This was such a difficult colour to photograph! None of the pics are colour accurate. She is much prettier in person but this will have to do.

My Nails Have Gone Viral!!

Day 85

Hahaa, just a different sort of viral than some of the other designs... ;)

I did my nails with these designs today for two reasons....#1. I'm sick. lol #2, My sister, Stacey, works in the lab at St. Mary's Hospital as a Med Tech, and she's gotten a bunch of her fellow co-workers there interested in the blog, and I thought they might get a kick out of these designs... :-P From Thumb to pinky, the viruses are (or cause) : Sore Throat, Common Cold, Flu, Swine Flu, and The Plague. :-) (based off the images from the awesome Giant Plush Microbes)

UPDATE: So I was informed by my sister that I misspoke, and infact, the pinky and thumb are bacteria, not viruses. The thumb is the bacteria Streptococcus Pyogenes, and the pinky is Yersinia pestis

I used:

Thumb: Sore Throat

Zoya Ravenas a base with Zoya Dakota, China Glaze Salsa, Zoya Stephanie, and a bit of mixing with Stephanie and Salsa, applied with a dotting tool to make the virus.

Index: Common Cold

Zoya Raven as a base, with Zoya Yummy to paint the viruses, and mixed with Diamond Cosmetics Giddy for highlight, and BB Couture Opposites Attract to shade.

Middle: Flu

Illamasqua Rampage as a base, with LA Girl polish in Army Girl for the viruses, and mixed with American Apparel Cotton for lighter green, and then Zoya Envy lightly sponged on top for texture and spots.

Ring: Swine Flu

American Apparel Cotton as a base, with BB Couture Opposites Attract
sponged on top for the grey splotchy texture, then the viruses are painted with China Glaze White on White as a base, then covered with Zoya Stephanie, and shaded with a mixture of Zoya Stephanie, Zoya Dakota, and BB Couture Opposites Attract, and the dark red is a mixture of Zoya Dakota and BB Couture Opposites Attract. The outline is Zoya Raven.

Pinky: The Plague

Diamond Cosmetics Giddy as a base, with Orly Mirror, Mirror for the virus, and outlined with BB Couture Opposites Attract. BB Couture Opposites Attract was also lightly sponged over to simulate the gunk around the virus. lol (so technical, right?)

I topped everything off with 2 liberal coats of Seche Vite top coat. :)

Steer clear of these bad boys and you should stay healthy this season!! :-P
