Day 82

Hey all!! No more vacation for me, I'm back in Vegas, and super homesick already. I had a great time with my sister (Andy, too! I'm glad he makes her so happy!!), and my niece and nephew, my parents, family, and all of my friends. I'm really sad already, I'm all weepy. :(



I used Barielle U Concrete Me as a base, with Limited Edition Essie Love Beverly Hills xx, which is super pretty, and I was lucky enough to find it at Ulta for $4.99!! :) applied with Konad Plate m63. Topped it off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat.

Ik houd normaal gesproken niet van tags maar dit is een korte en een mooie kans om jullie iets meer over mezelf te vertellen dus ik ben blij dat ik deze kan doen.

Ik moet jullie zeven willekeurige feitjes over mezelf vertellen dus hier zijn ze:

English: I got tagged by the very sweet Anna from The Nail Nerd. Yay! My first tag! I don't usually like tags but this is a short one and a chance to tell you a bit more about myself so I'm glad to do it. I'm supposed to tell you seven random facts about myself so here they are:

1. Ik ga aankomende april trouwens met mijn partner op de precieze datum dat we elkaar tien jaar geleden ontmoet hebben. We houden het klein maar onze families en beste vrienden zullen erbij zijn. De reden dat we deze datum gekozen hebben is niet zo romantisch als het lijkt. We hebben allebei de neiging om deze datum te vergeten en op deze manier hoeven we maar een datum te onthouden. lol

English: I'm getting married next April on the exact date I first met my partner ten years ago. We are keeping it small but both our families and our closest friends will be there. The reason we chose this date is not as romantic as it may seem. We both have a tendency to forget our anniversary so this way we only have to remember one date. lol

2. Ik heb twee honden: Bikkel en Anoek. Beide zijn schapendoezen. Bikkel is de zoon van een van de honden van mijn zus en Anoek hebben we gered bij een broodfokker waar zij als moederhond fungeerde. Ze was 4 toen we haar kregen en had toen al 7 nestjes gehad! Ze was bang voor alles en alledaagse dingen als gras, een televisie of een auto waren compleet nieuw voor haar doosbang voor mannen. We hebben wel eens een beetje spijt gehad dat we haar genomen hadden omdat ze zo moeilijk was maar 5 jaar en veel liefde en geduld later is ze een totaal andere hond! Je zou niet meer zeggen dat ze zo'n naar verleden heeft gehad.

English: I have two dogs: Bikkel and Anoek. Both are Dutch Sheepdogs. Bikkel is the son of one of my sisters dogs and we saved Anoek from a 'professional' breeder where she functioned as a breeder dog. She was 4 when we got her and she already had 7 nests! She was afraid of everything like grass, a television or a car and terrified of men. We did sometimes regret taking her in the past because she was so difficult but 5 years and a lot of love and patience later she a completely different dog! You wouldn't guess she had such a nasty background.

3. Ik woon in een heel erg klein huisje! De totale oppervlakte is ongeveer 50 m²!

English: I live in a very small house! Total living surface is about 50 m²!

4. Ik heb Bechterew, een vorm van reuma. Daarom draag ik de ringen die je op bijna iedere foto ziet. Eigenlijk zijn het een soort spalken die mijn gewrichten in het gareel houden en voorkomen dat ze te ver overstrekken of opzij buigen. Daarnaast zijn mijn rug en bekken deels vastgegroeid en andere grote gewrichten beschadigd. Het is kut maar het leven gaat door en je went eraan. Nagellak is mijn manier om mijn handen mooi te maken ondanks dat ik geen sierraden kan dragen en ik soms een hekel aan mijn handen heb omdat ze niet meewerken.

English: I have ankylosing spondylitis, a form of arthritis. This is why I wear the rings you can see in almost all of my pics. They actually are a kind of splints to keep my joints in check and to prevent them from over-stretching or bending sideways. Other than that part of my back and pelvis are joint together and other large joints are damaged. It sucks but life goes on and you learn to deal with it. Polish is my way of making my hands beautiful because I can't wear jewellery and I sometimes resent them for not playing nice.

5. Ik houd van koken! Ik ben altijd op zoek naar de beste ingrediënten en de mooiste recepten.
Mijn enige goede voornemen voor dit jaar is om me de komende maand meer te gaan verdiepen in de Japanse keuken. Mager, dus goed om de kerstkilootjes er weer af te krijgen en leuk omdat ik nog maar weinig Japanse gerechten in mijn repertoire heb.

English: I love to cook! I'm always looking for the best ingredients and the best recipes. My only resolution for this year is to dive into the Japanese kitchen this month. Lean, so good to get rid of that extra Christmas weight and fun because I don't have many Japanese dishes in my repertoire.

6. Mijn familie en vrienden weten niets van mijn blog! Ze vinden me al raar omdat ik zoveel nagellak heb ondanks dat ze geen idee hebben hoeveel het eigenlijk is en ik ga die afkeuring niet voeden door ze hierover te vertellen. Dit is mijn eigen wereldje en ik vind dat eigenlijk wel prettig zo.

English: My family and friends don't know about this blog! They already think I'm weird because I have so many polishes even though they have no idea how many I have exactly and I'm not going to feed the disapproval by telling them. This is my own little world and I kind of like it that way.

7. BB Couture heeft aangeboden om mij wat nagellakken te sturen voor een review! Mij! Yay! Ik ben nog helemaal niet bekend met dat merk op de swatches die ik online gezien heb na, dus ik ben erg blij dat ik ze kan gaan proberen binnenkort. Houd dus de blog in de gaten voor swatches!

English: BB Couture offered to send me some polishes for a review! Me! Yay! I'm not familiar with that brand other than the swatches I've seen online so I'm very excited to try them soon. Keep an eye on the blog for swatches!

The "David" Topcoat!

Op zoek naar de beste sneldrogende topcoat heeft The Edge Of Sanity onlangs een blinde test gedaan met acht testers. De resultaten waren verrassend!

Poshe, een van de bekendste en populairste topcoats eindigde helemaal onderaan, Seche Vite werd vijfde en mijn persoonlijke favoriet Nubar Diamont stond op de zesde plaats. Maar de grootste verrassing was de nummer een. Een ongelabelde, naamloze, onbekende topcoat heeft gewonnen. En het mooiste is: hij kost maar $1 per flesje! (Of $12 voor bijna een halve liter) Het enige nadeel is dat de site waar hij te bestellen is een minimum bestelling van $25 vraagt. Dat is een heleboel topcoat!

De dames van het nagellaktopic op www.fok.nl waren allemaal benieuwd naar deze topcoat dus we hebben een group order gedaan en hier is hij dan. De "David" topcoat, zoals Gabrielle van The Edge of Sanity hem genoemd heeft.


English: In search of the best quickdry topcoat The Edge Of Sanity hosted a blind test with eight testers. The results were surprising! Poshe, one of the best known and very popular topcoats came in last, Seche Vite came in fifth and my personal favourite Nubar Diamont ended sixth. But the biggest surprise was the number one. An unlabeled, unnamed and unknown topcoat was the winner. And the best part is: it was the cheapest one costing $1 per bottle! (Or $12 for 16 oz. ) The only downside is the $25 minimum on orders from the only site that sells them. That is a lot of topcoat! The ladies from the nail polish topic on www.fok.nl were all very curious about this topcoat so we made a group order and here it is. The "David" topcoat, as Gabrielle from The Edge Of Sanity named it.


Ik heb hem de laatste paar weken geprobeerd en ik ben niet onder de indruk. Ik heb nog nooit last gehad van 'body chemistry' maar blijkbaar gaan deze topcoat en ik niet samen.
Hij glanst fantastisch en lakt ook erg fijn maar hij is absoluut niet sneldrogend. Ik heb topcoats gehad van Catrice die sneller waren. De restjes ga ik maar op maken als refresh topcoat want daarvoor bevalt hij op zich wel goed.

Mijn harde maar eerlijke oordeel na uitgebreid testen is dus dat hij zelfs die ene dollar niet waard is. Heb jij de "David" al geprobeerd en wat vond je er van?

English: I've been testing it for the past couple of weeks and I'm unimpressed. I've never had trouble with 'body chemistry' but apperently this topcoat and I don't mix.
The shine is fantastic and it applies very well but it is not fastdrying at all. I've had cheap drugstore topcoats that were faster. I'll use up what is left as a refresher topcoat because I do kind of like it for that.

My hard but honest judgement after extensive testing is that it isn't even worth the dollar it costs.Have you tried the "David" and did you like it?

What is on nail right now

Hello dear, nail-Art lovers!
I did some more nail painting today.
So, this is what i have done today and this manicures is actually on my nails right now (i dont know for how long)
I ope you too think that i am making some progress in painting, and some manis comes out nice.I am finally starting to get some depth in my drawings. I also just realized that i need to use more contrast colors for better results



This is my right hand, and i think i did a really good job on this one. usually painting with the left hand is a disaster for me

Resolution #2: Don't Worry.

Day 81

I resolve to stop worrying about EVERYthing, and start being happy. I'm going to smile til my face hurts. :-D



I used Urban Outfitters polish in Orange 3, with Migi Nail Art Pens for the lines.

PARTY!

The question isn't what did I do on these nails but what didn't I do? I went all out on these. I used 3 colors of acrylic that I placed randomly on the nail. I added blue, pink and yellow mylar. I also used some glitter pieces. After I filed and shaped the nails I painted on the purple and white swirls then I finished with a gel top coat. They look like a party is going on right on her nails!

This is an icy blue acrylic by ez flow called venezia. I added little glitter strips into the acrylic and finished by painting on some snowflakes.

On these nails I used black acrylic in nebula and faded sparkles nail products glitter in black & white ball at the smile line.

These nails also have black acrylic in nebula and I used another glitter from sparkles nail art faded into it. Love love love the sparkles.

Ik was al een paar dagen aan het denken over wat ik met mijn nagels zou doen voor oud en nieuw. Glitter? Konad? Uiteindelijk is het een normale simpele maar wel erg mooie lak geworden.

English: I've been thinking about what I would do with my nails for New Years Eve for a couple of days. Glitter? Konad? Eventually I went with this normal, simple but very pretty polish. Diamond Cosmetics Don't Teal My Heart Away.

Dit zijn twee laagjes met base- en topcoat en de foto's zijn genomen na twee dagen dragen.
DTMHA is zo'n typische goedkope nagellak. In het begin lakt hij redelijk goed maar tegen de tijd dat je aan het tweede laagje toe bent begint het dik en stroperig te worden waardoor het erg moeilijk wordt om gelijkmatig te lakken. Sommige Essence lakjes hebben die eigenschap ook. De oplossing is heel erg simpel: nagellakverdunner.

Verdunner kan van iedere streperige, dikke en moeilijke lak een fantastische lak maken! Flink wat druppels toevoegen, goed schudden en dan even laten staan zodat de luchtbelletjes weer verdwijnen. Gebruik alsjeblieft GEEN nagellakremover om je nagellak te verdunnen. Remover is gemaakt om nagellak op te lossen en zal uiteindelijk de kleur afbreken en je nagellak onbruikbaar maken terwijl in verdunner dezelfde oplosmiddelen zitten die ook al in de nagellak zelf zitten om hem vloeibaar te maken. Met verdunner hoef je nooit meer een nagellak weg te gooien.
Mijn nagellakverdunner komt van NailDesignEuroDiscount maar er zijn meer online shops die het verkopen. In de winkel ben ik het hier nog nooit tegengekomen helaas.

Is verdunner kopen je teveel moeite dan is rechts in mijn profiel mijn emailadres te vinden.->
Stuur me even een berichtje, dan neem ik met liefde de lakjes van je over die je anders zou verpesten door er remover aan toe te voegen! ;)

English: This is two coats with base- and topcoat and the pics were taken after wearing it for two days. DTMHA is one of those typical cheap polishes. At first they apply fairly well but when you get around to the second coat it starts to get thick and goopy which makes it very difficult to get an even application. Some Essence polishes have the same problem. The sollution is very simple: nail polish thinner.

Thinner can make any streaky thick and difficult polish apply like a dream! Add a good amount of drops, shake well and let it sit for a while so the air bubbles can dissapear. Please do NOT use remover to thin your polishes. Remover is designed to dissolve nail polish and it will degrade the pigments and and make your polish unusable while thinner is made from the same solvents that are used in polishes to make them liquid. With thinner you will never have to throw away another polish.

Is buying thinner to much of a hassle for you than you can find my email address under my profile on the right. -> Please send me a message, I would love to take the polishes off your hands you were going to ruin anyway by using remover to thin them! ;)

En nee dames, het is ook niet slecht om nagellak te schudden! Sterker nog, het is erg goed voor je nagellak. Na verloop van tijd gaat iedere nagellak zich scheiden. Pigmenten zakken naar de bodem en oplosmiddelen drijven naar boven en verdampen uiteindelijk zelfs als de dop er goed op zit. Door te schudden meng je alle bestandsdelen van de nagellak waardoor je nagellak langer mee gaat en de kleur goed behouden blijft dus alsjeblieft: schud je nagellak!
Als je het daarna een minuutje of 10 laat staan zijn al die luchtbelletjes weer verdwenen.

Dat was een lang verhaal maar het is het waard! Laat het een goed voornemen zijn om in 2010 verdunner te kopen om je nagellak te behouden en het jezelf een stuk makkelijker te maken.
Ik wens jullie een geweldig, gelukkig, gezond en gelakt nieuw jaar!


English: And no ladies, shaking your polish is not bad! In fact it's good for your polishes. As time goes by polish separates. Pigments sink to the bottom and solvents float to the top where they will evaporate even when the cap is on. By shaking your polish you will mix all these components which will make your polish last longer and keep the colour accurate so please: shake your polish! When you leave it for about ten minutes afterwards all the air bubbles caused by shaking will have disappeared.

That was a long post but it's worth it! Let it be a New Years resolution for 2010 to buy a nail polish thinner to save your polishes and to make your life a lot less complicated. I wish you a wonderful, happy, healthy and polished New Year!

I Resolve to....

Day 80

...paint my nails EVERY day until October 14, 2010. ;)

Yay!!! We all made it through the last decade!! Let's all hope that this year far surpasses the last, and keeps going at that momentum for the next decade! (and further!!) Today's nails are one of my (and several others') resolutions- to lose a few inches!! :-/ Working at a job that requires me to sit most of the day, and my aversion to the gym have left me with about 10 or so # that I'd like to get rid of... as my sister put it, I don't want things to wobble (other than my chest) when I walk down stairs. ;) lol I have a few other resolutions, but this is the one I'm determined to keep. :)



I used Urban Outfitter's polish in Orange 3 as a base (its really more of a goldy-yellow), and China Glaze Liquid Leather for the lines, and then topped it off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat. My nails are so shiny today they look like they're fake nails. The picture doesn't do justice, I can never get good pictures it seems like.

Lastly, I had to post this picture of my 'nephew', he just looked too hilarious chewing on his bone, all splayed out, he's just so damn long. lol

Day 79

Happy New Year's Eve!! For tonight, my nails required sparkle, and champagne, and that's what they got!! ;-P



I used OPI Dazzled by Gold for the Champagne, China Glaze Liquid Leather as a base for the other nails, China Glaze White on White for the white on the champagne glass, and Zoya Luna for the silver sparkle. Everything was topped off with 2 coats of Seche Vite top coat. :)

I hope that everyone has a very Happy and VERY safe New Year's Eve!! Remember your designated driver!

Here is a pic of me enjoying a 'champagne' toast ;) Don't mind the hair- this was at the end of the night after walking across downtown in the snow!! lol

Happy New Tiger Year!

Happy new year to all my wonderful readers and all the Nail-Art Lovers.
I am so excited, to start the year of the Tiger, according to the Chinese Calendar.
Tiger is the same as Cat just not domesticated, and i love cats so much.
I made 2 tigers manicures, first i made orange one, but when i realized that it is the year of the white tiger, and had nit done again tonight.
So, i hope you ll like manicures and have a cool holiday.
